We've been at this for four weeks now--that's nearly a month--and have consistently dropped pounds each week. This weigh-in is no exception. Here are the numbers:
Jay
Starting weight: 301 pounds
Current weight: 284 pounds
Pounds lost this week: 2 pounds
Total pounds lost: 17 pounds
Susan
Starting weight: 238 pounds
Current weight: 226 pounds
Pounds lost this week: 1 pound
Total pounds lost: 12 pounds
Woo-hoo! We did good. I know Mr. thinks he should have done better (he still has unrealistic expectations for himself). And I admit, I feel a tad (just a tad) disappointed that I didn't have another 2-pound loss like last week.
But a pound gone is a pound gone. Plus, I've been doing some weight training, which hopefully has been building muscle. So maybe that's adding weight, even as I'm losing fat. Who knows? We're going to keep at it, doing our very best to get fit with each meal we choose and workout we do. Next week, we'll have our fifth week in a row of weight loss. Just you watch!

Awesome...keep going!!
Don't be discouraged if your weight loss slows down or you hit a plateau. It is normal and natural for that to happen. If you stall out for a few weeks or longer, consider adding exercise or dropping 100 calories a day from your diet. It can be as easy as leaving 2 bites of food on your plate at each meal. (I HATE leaving food on my plate. So I will serve myself the serving I normally would, then take off 2 spoonfuls...and pack it up with the other leftovers. I have to play mind games with myself but it works for me!)
I'm impressed by how methodical and dedicated you've been in morphing into a better you. Great stuff! Don't get too preoccupied with the numbers. Just keep doing the right things, and as your bodies accept the new schedule, weight will take care of itself. Massive week-to-week weight loss is for the reality shows. Brad
Good job, again! So are your clothes getting looser and looser? Pretty soon you'll need a new wardrobe.
Thanks, peeps. Anon, good tip on the exercise pump-up and calorie trim. We're trying a bit of both. Brad, we are more obsessed with the numbers than we should be, but are attempting to temper that with a little bit of faith. Cara, clothes are a little looser, but not dramatically yet. I look forward to dipping back into my thinner clothes, and eventually replacing my wardrobe once I reach my goal!
Susan might be looking forward to buying a new wardrobe, but I'm looking forward to the day I'm so skinny that I'll be walking down the street and suddenly my old fat pants will fall down. Sure, I'll scare strangers and mentally scar children for life, but I'll be skinny when I do it. ;)
Great job!! I think we started at the same time as you two. I can't believe it's been 31 days already. It's a real lifestyle change, that is for sure.
