Weekly Weigh-in #27: Hello, Plateau

If you were hanging out at our house this morning, you wouldn't have seen a lot of smiling faces. Except for our daughter, who has only pounds to gain as she grows big and strong. She was happy as a clam.

Mr. and I were bummed. We didn't make any progress this week.

Jay
Starting weight: 301 pounds
Current weight: 253.5 pounds
Pounds lost this week: 0 pounds
Total pounds lost: 47.5 pounds

Susan
Starting weight: 238 pounds
Current weight: 191.5 pounds
Pounds lost this week: (.5) pounds
Total pounds lost: 46.5 pounds

Boo. This doesn't seem right. I busted my butt at the Y several times this week, as well as a few at-home workouts. I ate fruit. I got the child-sized cup of ice cream when I went out with my friends. I passed on wine--more than once.

Well, we're just gonna keep at this thing. No plateau is going to hold us back!

The longer you go the more fat you replace with muscle. Weight loss will slow, but changes in your body will become more and more noticeable.

I'm sure you both know that a lot of things go in to overall body weight--water retention being a huge factor. You may see the pay-offs from this week on the scale two or three weeks from now. Don't forget: What's important is your overall health and smart choices. The scale will show it when it's good and ready.

Just go back and look at your new work photo. Amazing transformation. Also, I find if I really hit the water hard it helps. My dad just told me that people that eat one egg a day consume about 250 less calories a day. Who knows if it's true, but it's worth a try.
