Mr., This One's for You

As loyal readers already know, Mr. Get Fit has been on a hiatus from getting fit for the past few months. I don't want to speak for him, but I know he finds it nearly impossible to get motivated when his whale-like preggers wife eats a bowl of ice cream and considers her house-cleaning duties exercise. I do feel guilty for not being as "good" as I should during this pregnancy, but I also realize Mr. really needs to take responsibility for his own fitness. I can't exercise for him and choose his foods for him.

So today, I discovered a blog called 344 Pounds that I wanted to share with Mr. (and you guys). It's very motivational. In lieu of my running a 5K or offering a new salad recipe, I give you this blog capturing the last six months for Tyler, a young dad (similar to Mr.) who went from morbidly obese to 90 lbs slimmer and a WHOLE lot fitter. He's down to 253 lbs and looking really good (as in, totally unrecognizable from his starting photos). He seems to be doing all the right things -- watching his calorie intake carefully and exercising religiously. It's clearly working.

I love Tyler's reasons for starting the blog, as he explains on his "About" page:

For starters, I want to use it to keep track of my weight loss journey; one day, when she’s old enough, I’ll show it to my daughter and tell her that “this saved daddy.” Secondly, I want to help others who are trying to lose weight; I want people to learn from my successes, as well as my failures. Lastly, 344pounds.com is a way to keep myself personally accountable to my friends and family (who know about this blog), as well as complete strangers.


Rock on, Tyler! And Mr., I hope you find his blog inspirational to get your butt back on the fit wagon with me very soon. We can do it!
