Weekly Weigh-in: I Am a Giant

Our daughter Cassie has a fascination with giants, and she often shouts out "Oh no! It's a GI-ANT!" pointing to an imagined creature, perhaps dangling from a beanstalk. More than once lately, she's directed that statement at me. And I have to admit, it's true. I am definitely resembling a giant more with each passing day.

My good friend Andrea saw me this weekend and told me I looked good, "not fat at all." I could always count on her for such positive support, from way back (when I wasn't fat but thought I was -- ahhh, puberty). When you wear maternity clothes, it's a little hard to tell where you're gaining -- whether it's all belly (good) or more butt (bad). Not like regular clothes, where you definitely feel it when you put on 5 lbs from too much ice cream.

I am still doing a lot to stay active and I drink gallons of no-calorie fluids to stay hydrated. Also, I can't get enough fruit! Veggies, not as thrilling. Stay with me, people, and I will make it to July 18 and beyond. Only eight looooong weeks to go.

Weekly Weigh-in: Another Bum Week

I saw a few different numbers on the scale when I weighed in today. Usually, I weigh myself a couple of times, just to make sure I get the same number twice. But today it was just jumping all over the place. Maybe it's the baby shifting his weight. Or me shifting my weight. Whatever, I finally just took the median number as the one to post.

Damn it all! I've been very active, but not super diety-eating. I can feel this boy getting bigger every day. At this point, I'm focusing on feeling good and getting to the big day (July 18), followed by a major post-natal fit overhaul. Maybe I'll even get the blog redesigned to celebrate. (Especially if Mr. joins me in my quest.)

Weekly Weigh-in: Not Too Shabby

It's funny how I still get a little excited when I step on the scale each week, like I did when I was in full weight-loss mode and hoping like hell I went down a pound or two. What do I have to look forward to? Now that I'm into my third trimester of pregnancy, all I can hope for is no gain. Or maybe not too bad of a gain.

Well, I guess 1 pound isn't too bad. I can live with that. I'm still (barely) under the 200 mark -- at home, anyway. The doctor's scale always says I'm several pounds heavier, but I refuse to believe it.

Weekly Weigh-in: I'm Way Pregnant, People

I am now so pregnant, even random people are asking me about the baby -- kids at the park, guy at the oil change place, you name it. Bless the hearts of those kind friends who say "You don't look 7 months pregnant! It's all in your belly." It's nice to hear, even if you're lying (I hope you're not, though!)

The scale also agrees I'm getting bigger.

I haven't been perfect about my food choices, but I'm definitely eating a lot healthier than I was at this point in my last pregnancy. I still bring my lunch and snacks to work most days, which forces me into more nutritious choices. I may have indulged in a pint of UDF chocolate caramel ice cream this past weekend while stopping for gas (UDF is a local chain of gas stations that also carry delicious premium homemade ice cream). But last time around, I ate like a pint a day (no exaggeration here).

I also walked my ass off this weekend and have been working like a fiend on home improvement stuff. Unfortunately, I've got sciatica pain shooting through my lower back and butt, which reduces me to a bent-over old lady by the end of most days. Really cramps my active style! I have so much I want to do, but my body is holding me back.

Mr. has been fairly quiet about his fit habits, but he insists he will weigh in once he exercises on the stationary bike for a week. Currently, the bike is surrounded by a bunch of stuff we're donating to Salvation Army. They're coming this Friday to take all the stuff away, so hopefully that will remove one excuse.
